Riteks founder Edward Boss comes by his entrepreneurial spirit honestly. Growing up in a business-oriented family, he earned a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a master of business administration degree from the University of Texas – Dallas. After a couple of stops at large corporations like Union Carbide and Air Products and Chemicals, Edward decided to create a company at the intersection of his love of business and love of chemistry, launching a chemical distributorship focused on helping customers take specialty, unique chemicals and assist them how to formulate and improve their own products.
In the very early stages of the chemical distributor business, one of the company’s largest customers presented a new opportunity that the team was well qualified to pursue. Put simply, the customer desired some expertise from a company to provide the services of procuring raw materials, blending, packaging, and shipping final product. Edward and his team had the expertise and quickly realized that providing the toll blending services alongside the distribution operation created tremendous value to their customer base, and Riteks was born.
Since its beginnings in 1989, Riteks has grown to be the specialty chemical provider of choice for high-performance products used in diverse industries like oil and gas, construction, coatings, sealants, and adhesives. With a state-of-the-art chemical manufacturing facility in Houston opened in early 2019, along with the manufacturing facility in McKinney, TX, Riteks is committed to maintaining its leadership position in developing solutions, manufacturing, sales, and service.
Through the years, Edward Boss has also dedicated Riteks to the requirements of chemical safety, sustainability, product stewardship, and responsible distribution. Edward believes that there is no better organization to guide and assist with these imperative requirements than ACD, the Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD). He has held multiple positions over 25 years with ACD and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of ACD’s Executive Board.
Now, more than ever, Riteks is built for performance—elite chemical products for the industries we serve and an uncompromising approach to customer service based on access, responsiveness, and turnaround. We are making the necessary investments in the people, partnerships, product development, and facilities around the country to position ourselves to better meet customer needs for years to come. Riteks is ready.
