Product Engineer

Summary

Conducts engineering assessments and oversees laboratory experiments to evaluate performance attributes of internally developed, newly sourced, and existing products. Responsibilities include assistance in product selection, establishing quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) processes, and supporting the transition from concept to commercialization. The Product Engineer bridges the R&D and Technical Services departments, focusing on enhancing product development, improving the current product portfolio, and effectively communicating technical specifications to bolster sales and marketing initiatives.

Essential duties and responsibilities (Required Competency):

Product Comprehension and Commercialization
  • Develop and refine products to meet industry standards and customer requirements, ensuring readiness for commercialization
  • Collaborate with vendors in the evaluation of products to enhance current product portfolio
  • Translate complex product data into comprehensible charts, graphs, and other visual aids to support sales and marketing teams
Data Analysis and QAQC Outline
  • Analyze laboratory and field data to optimize product formulations and processes
  • Conduct ladder studies to evaluate product variations and their performance metrics
  • Establish and oversee QAQC procedures for production to ensure product reliability and compliance with industry standards
Interdepartmental Collaboration
  • Act as a liaison between R&D and Technical Services on newly developed products
  • Facilitate effective communication of product development with lab and operations
  • Prepare detailed presentations to explain product characteristics, performance data, and research findings to management and sales

  • Must have basic organizational and time management skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must be able to take initiative, work independently and have a positive attitude
  • Must be able to communicate in written and verbal fashion the summary of lab results and proper conclusions and recommendations
  • Must follow and adhere to all applicable Personal protective equipment guidelines

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science from accredited university.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand (20%), and most of the time sit (75%).
